What to wear

Attire

Attire is one of the most fun parts of celebrating an Indian wedding! We’d love for everyone to feel comfortable while enjoying the color and tradition of each event. Here’s a quick guide to help you decide what to wear to each celebration.

Haldi

Pastel or bright, and casual.

Women
Casual sarees, lehengas, skirts or maxi dresses.
Men
Kurtas, sherwanis, or a casual shirt with dress pants.

Heads up: there’ll be turmeric everywhere, so wear something you don’t mind staining.

Sangeeth

Festive, fun, semi-formal: pieces you can dance in.

Women
Sarees, lehengas, skirts or maxi dresses.
Men
Kurtas, sherwanis, or a shirt with dress pants and a blazer or Jodhpuri suit.

Muhurtha

Traditional South Indian.

Women
Saree, lehenga, kurta, or a long or maxi dress.
Men
Sherwani, kurta, or a formal shirt with dress pants.

Beegara Oota

Traditional South Indian, or semi-formal Western wear.

Women
Saree, lehenga, kurta, or a long or maxi dress.
Men
Sherwani, kurta, or a formal shirt with dress pants.

Footwear

You may need to slip your shoes off at some of the religious ceremonies, so wear something easy to get on and off. Bring comfortable flats or sandals as backup — you’ll be on your feet for a while, dancing included.
